Massage In School Program

The Massage in Schools Programme (MISP) is an international, non-therapeutic touch-based programme for children aged 4-12 that promotes well-being, respect, and a ready-to-learn environment. Children learn a massage routine and practice giving clothed, child-to-child massage on each other’s back, head, arms, and hands with their permission. Benefits include improved concentration, increased confidence, better social awareness, and a calmer classroom.

Become a Massage In School Program (MISP) Instructor?

MISP Instructor training courses are available live online from March 2021

Please request details: Role of the MISP Instructor; instructors are adults from education, health, and children’s organisations who care about children's physical, social, and emotional development.

Instructors introduce the peer massage routine directly to the children, supported by the class teacher or adult in charge. They can teach all staff how to use positive touch in the curriculum, using visualisation and kinaesthetic learning. The programme is fun for the children and staff!

All adults working with children require an enhanced DBS certificate (Disclosure and Barring Service) or equivalent.

Massage in Schools Association (MISA)

The Massage in Schools Association (MISA) supports Instructors with resources on the website. MISA is a member of the Anti-Bullying Alliance.

Full attendance is required. The training is intensive, but great fun and participants enjoy the opportunity to work with others. Instructors receive a comprehensive manual to support the training, an Instructor’s Certificate, and the Massage in Schools Association (MISA). There are plenty of opportunities to exchange information and ideas with others.
